Nominate for Mayor's Business Appreciation Awards


Lakewood wants to recognize those members of the community who are contributing to the city's economic stability and vitality by accepting nominations for the second annual Mayor's Business Appreciation Awards.

Lakewood's Community Planning and Development Department's Economic Development Division created the awards to highlight the important economic work occurring in our community. Nominations will be accepted for the categories listed below and are due by June 15.

Businesses located in Lakewood or operating a project in the city are eligible. A panel of City staff and community members will judge the nominations based on how they meet the goals of Lakewood's Comprehensive Plan and promote economic stability.

40 Year Anniversary Longevity Award - Established to celebrate Lakewood's 40 th anniversary, this will go to a business that has been successfully operating in Lakewood since 1969 or earlier.

Innovative New Technology Award - This will be presented to a company showing measurable economic impact through the invention or revolutionary use of a new technology.

Business Growth Award - This will be presented to a Lakewood business that has grown substantially in one or more of the following areas: private/capital investment, employment, facility size, or another measurable category.

Entrepreneur of the Year - This will be presented for envisioning the needs of the future and creating a new Lakewood business.

The C.Y. Choi Award - This will go to a project that embodies the principles of Lakewood's Performance Based Review Process particularly in terms of respect for adjacent land users, creativity in addressing areas of contention and attention to the Lakewood Comprehensive Plan.

The Tony Sabatini Award - This will be given to individuals who have contributed to the betterment of the community or the enhancement of the quality of life for the people of Lakewood.
