Early morning accident claims life of bicyclist
Contributed by: Steve Davis/Lakewood Police on 7/30/2007

Lakewood police detectives have identified a bicyclist who was killed early July 30 as 44-year-old Jeffery Anderson of Denver.

Anderson was riding his bicycle on South Wadsworth Blvd. at about 3:48 a.m. when he was apparently struck by a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Robert Pollard of Thornton.

Paramedics from West Metro Fire responded in an attempt to treat the victim; however he died on scene.

The initial investigation would indicate that both men were on their way to the Costco store at 7900 West Quincy Ave. where they were employed.

Lakewood police have issued Pollard a summons for "careless driving resulting in death." At this time detectives do not believe that drugs or alcohol were involved in the early morning accident but will await test results before making a final determination.
