City shut down until Friday
Contributed by: City of Lakewood on 12/20/2006

Jefferson County public schools declared a snow day for Dec. 20 and 21.

All non-essential services at the city of Lakewood will remain closed until 8 am on Friday, Dec. 22, when we expect to fully re-open. The closures include:

• Municipal Courts. Cases will be continued to another date.
• The Clements Community Center and Lakewood Rides.
• Before- and after-school programs.
• Lakewood Recreation centers, Washington Heights, and Bear Creek Lake Park closed at 2 p.m.

Lakewood City Clerk's Office will remain open until 5 p.m. today to receive ballots for the Jan. 2 special election.

The city will open a phone bank to handle emergency transportation needs for essential personnel and medical personnel at 1 p.m. Doctors, nurses and other essential personnel may call 303-987-5412 for assistance with getting to work.

A full slate of City snowplow crews as well as additional graders are working around the clock on clearing priority routes in Lakewood, which are arterial and major collector streets. Residential streets will be plowed when blizzard conditions dissipate and major streets are cleared, but residents should not expect plowing in residential areas until later on Friday.
For information on performances tonight and tomorrow of the Nutcracker at the Lakewood Cultural Center, please check www.dtdt.org or call 303-987-4810.

Due to the blizzard conditions, Jefferson County government offices and courts are closed today, Thursday, December 21.
