Lakewood's mutt rescue, The Misha May Foundation, wishes to thank the community for helping them raise more than $2000 at their annual garage sale. The funds will help with their mission to rescue, rehab and re-home dogs who are ill, injured and outcasts.
For those unable to attend the sale or donate time or items, the non-profit's Baby Bear Medical Fund is not quite replenished. They will be glad to accept tax-deductible donations to The Misha May Foundation, P.O. Box 151166, Lakewood, CO 80215-1166, or via their website, mishamayfoundation.org.
"The cost for health care, ranging from knee replacements to heart surgery, adds up quickly," said Lorraine May, founder and executive director of Misha May. "Yet it is our mission to treat each animal as if she or he is our own and provide whatever is needed."
May said she deplores that euthanasia is considered an acceptable means of population control, and that it is utilized as a resolution for dogs with medical issues which can be easily addressed or behavior problems which can be modified under the right circumstances.
