Upcoming Misha May event to benefit dogs in need

LAKEWOOD, COLORADO - June 1, 2009 - The Misha May Foundation, a Colorado non-profit that rescues abandoned dogs, regardless of age, infirmity or breed, is proud to partner with C-Level Restaurant in Arvada to host "A Moment for Mutts" benefit and silent auction on Tuesday, June 16.

The benefit begins at 5:30 p.m. at the restaurant, which is located on Hidden Lake at 5175 West 68th Avenue, east of Sheridan. Featured will be waterfront dining, patio drinks, and a silent auction, with proceeds going directly to the care and veterinary expenses for neglected dogs. Silent auction items include contributions from the Denver Nuggets, Whole Foods, Mile High Wine and Spirits, Pet Empawrium, Savory Spice, and many others. Advance $10 tickets include entrance to the restaurant's indoor/outdoor private banquet level, goodie bags, and door prize tickets. Cash bar and individual menu items will be available for purchase. To reserve tickets or to make a donation to the rescue, go to their website at www.mishamayfoundation.org.

The foster-based Misha May Foundation is dedicated to providing care, rehabilitation, training or whatever else may be needed to find homes for the dogs they often rescue from death row in Colorado shelters. According to Founder and Executive Director, Lorraine May, proceeds from the benefit will help replenish the Baby Bear Medical Fund, which covers medical care for dogs rescued from shelters while they await their permanent homes.

"These dogs are often difficult to adopt out while they're sick, but they also don't have an owner to cover their veterinary expenses", explains May. "This is where Misha May bridges the gap by providing the time and resources needed for these dogs to restore their health and find the right home." Recent recipients of the Baby Bear Medical Fund include Rusty, a four year-old Chow/shepherd who received knee replacement surgery, Kohkoh who required several surgeries after being attacked by a pack of dogs, and two litters of puppies whose health was seriously compromised in shelters.

'We are hoping that 'A Moment for Mutts' will provide dog lovers with a wonderful evening that also helps our foundation continue to give Colorado's abandoned dogs a second chance", says May.
