Kitchen Goddess Exhibit Goes Up!
Contributed by: Suchil Coffman on 1/18/2007

The kitchen is open in the North Gallery of the Lakewood Cultural Center, at 470 S. Allison Pkwy. Colorado artists and dedicated members of The Women's Caucus for Art worked all last week to set up over 60 juried pieces of art in the mezzanine area of the cultural center, as well as a full life-sized kitchen in the North Gallery. This is no ordinary kitchen though! Every item in this kitchen is made from or covered in fabric, to convey a 1950s vibe, when convenience and painstaking homemade items clashed. The show was guest-curated by Suchil Coffman, from the Colorado chapter of the Women's Caucus for Art, and the group will host an opening reception, complete with real kitchen goddesses, Friday January 26th, from 6 - 8 pm. Stop by to see for yourself... a pink fuzzy turkey, a silky platter of spam and butter, bowls filled with mystery fur, and more. The Kitchen Goddess will be waiting. There will be a silent auction for all items in the kitchen installation beginning on the opening reception night and lasting the duration of the show until March 23, 2007.
