Oh deer!
Contributed by: Cary Shaffer on 1/14/2007

On Sunday morning after swallowing a banana and rushing to get the suppies I needed for my kindergarten and first grade Sunday School class, my mom and I headed off to church.

My mom turned into the parking lot at Lutheran Church of the Master. I gazed into the oncoming snow in the very full parking lot when I saw a herd of mule deer at the side of the building. Mom pushed me out of the car to take some photos. After arriving late to class, I sent my class to have a look at the deer for themselves.

In the presence of the hoofed visitors my class was overly excited. When class ended, the pastor had difficulty keeping the attention of the youth in the congregation during his sermon for they were sitting next to the windows with wide eyes. This was the first time I have ever seen deer so close to humans. The kids and deer were nose to nose.

If you would like to spend your Sunday mornings with a great view of wildlife, come visit us at Lutheran Church of the Master on the corner of Alameda and Jewell.
