Kris Mahan was the top winner at Foothills Music Teacher's Association (FMTA) Sonatina Festival held at C.C.U. Music Center in Lakewood. He was presented with a trophy and $200 at the winner's recital on March 11. He began studying piano with his mother, Mrs. Bobette Mahan, at the age of 5 and has continued his musical studies with her for 12 years.

Kris is a junior at Lakewood HIgh School in the International Baccalaureate program and maintains a 3.75 GPA. He enjoys sports and has played baseball and some basketball.
