Master Black's ATA students compete
Contributed by: Corina Black on 5/12/2008

More than 28 kids, teens and adults gathered for a day of competitive fun inside the local ATA Black Belt Academy of Lakewood. Competition ranged for children ages 3 through adult.

"Giving the students a chance to compete in a fun, safe environment is not a fun family activity, but allows them to 'test' the waters of competition before heading out to a regional or national event," says Master Corina Black. One of the adult competitors didn't realize how nervous and fun they would feel until doing their form "poomsae" in front of the "judges" and receiving scores. It was truly a learning experience.

Why compete?
Tournaments offer Taekwondo students a chance to perform in a new environment, to meet and make friends with students from other ATA schools, to see advanced black belt competition, and even to win trophies.

Regional Tournament -- Master Black's students compete at the recent regional tournament held at the Denver Marriott near I-25 and Lincoln on April 19th. Our own Team X Elite performance team won 2nd place out of 7 teams. Woo Hoo!
