Yes, I was blacklisted from a hotel in Vegas. Escorted out by the police for an evening that included nudity on the dance floor, getting down in the elevator, and bad Cher impressions.
It might have been the bad Cher impressions that really pushed Vegas law enforcement over the edge.
A group of us, friends from high school, get together every year in Vegas. This time it coincided with the organizer, Jessica's work conferences. So the evening started off in our hotel room and not only did we have all of my friends but a whole group of engineers from Jessica's tech company.Everything was pretty calm until I came out with my box full of wigs. Next thing you know I had Tom, the VP of engineering standing on the bed with a long black wig giving me his best Cher impression, which was actually pretty hot.
Something about the combination of wigs and engineers set the place ablaze. Shortly after there was a knock at the door- Security, we had to keep it down. I'm thinking it's only 10pm! The night is young! That was the first encounter with security, we would soon become fast friends as the night went on.
Now we are at the dance floor at the club inside the hotel, the crowd is huge, the music is pumping. My best friend Eric is in the middle of the crowd getting his groove on. I join him, one of our favorite dance moves is for me to bend him over while I slap his butt from behind. The crowd loves it. Then I have this brilliant idea of taking it a step further, he already has his shirt open so I take that off and fling it in to the crowd, we now have a circle forming around us, I then decide the pants and underwear have to go too (I still have no idea how I got them off with his shoes still on). I swing his pants over my head and fling them into the crowd they dissappear into a group of bachelorette partiers. Then the underwear, same thing, another group of bachelorette girls takes off with them.
So there is Eric, one hand now covering his crotch, the other waving in the air as he continues to boogie down butt-naked on the dance floor.
He never did get his clothes back.
We head back to the room, Eric has his girlfriend Christina's jacket wrapped around his waist. It's now 4am and I tell them I will meet them at the room.
I walk out of the elevator and as the elevator in front of me opens I see Eric and Christina who were apparently getting down while they were going up, their clothes bundled in the corner.
So, with Eric covering his crotch with his hands, shoes still on, and Christina in her underwear carrying the rest of her clothes in her arms, we get to the room.
Shoot! our key doesn't work. All three of us try our keys. Nothing. We call the front desk to send us up some news keys. "We be right up" they said in a cheerful voice.
But who shows up is not the front desk staff, but hotel security guards and two cops.
They had intentionally locked us out.
They say they are escorting us out of the hotel, we beg them to let us get some clothes and our things first, they open our hotel room.
They start making comments about the smell, the empty beer bottles, wigs and boa feathers that make the place look like we were sacrificing chickens. We gather our stuff as fast as we can.
On our way out the sherrif reads us our rights and a long legal document about how we are being permanently blacklisted from the hotel and that if we ever show up there again we would find ourselves in a much less luxurious kind of room.
Jessica called up later and got it all sorted out and I have since realized that Vegas hotels are filled with video cameras.
What happens in Vegas stays with the security guys who have the footage.
