Rockies Suite -- sweet!
Contributed by: karen miller on 8/9/2007

WHY MY FRIENDS AND I DESERVE TO WATCH THE ROCKIES FROM A SUITE AT COORS FIELD

On August 18, my friends and I will take the field to play in the Easter Seals Softball Marathon. This will be my 20th consecutive year of putting together a team for this event (you can confirm this with Shirley at Easter Seals, 303-233-1666.) , which has become a summer highlight. This year, Benny and Rebecca, who moved to California last year are coming back to participate because it is such a special event. And my sister Laurie, who lives in Wisconsin, hopes to us. ends have participated for Many players have participated for ten years or more. That's devotion to a good cause.

Easter Seals is a great organization that is based in Lakewood and serves many people with their programs - from the warm water therapy pool to their HandiCamp. There is nothing like the sight of a child that cannot walk rappelling across the river on ropes, free from life's limitations and experiencing great moments. I recommend that everyone get to know this organization and the great people who work there. They don't get a lot of press and deserve more.

My friends are all baseball nuts. That is a prerequisite. But they are also good people who join with me in raising money each year for the Easter Seals Softball Marathon. We never settle for raising the minimum, in fact, I set individual goals for everyone to raise at least double that amount. And we always succeed. One year a friend got so involved in the fundraising that her totals matched the sum of all the other players' totals! And she did it one small donor at a time, until she had talked to just about everyone she knew. The event itself is great fun - great people and teams out having a good time in the summer sun and feeling great about supporting Easter Seals. Unfortunately, participation in recent years has waned but there is still time to call Shirley 303-233-1666 to join in.

With the marathon just a week away, everyone is busy fundraising. If we won the Rockies tickets, I reward the top fundraisers and we would celebrate yet another successful year while cheering on the Rockies. I would also invite Shirley because she works so hard for Easter Seals and has been so committed for over 20 years What a great celebration that would be.

If we don't win, that's cool, at least I got to talk about Easter Seals and promote their Softball Marathon.

Go Rockies. Go YourHub. Thanks for the opportunity.
