Growing up in Colorado, I think back on all the doubleheaders we used to play every summer.Watching the sun go down as we would start the ninth inning on warm mid-july summer night. As I would trot in from wherever on the field I might have been playing, I can remember seeing my parents always sitting in the bleachers, their smiling and happy faces gettingto see me enjoying my childhood. The sacrifice of driving me to every practice and game through out a 90 game summer and thinking, wow I am lucky. I am 26 now and still get to see that excitement every time I see my mom watch the Rockies on TV. I feel like I am the parent watching the kid, going through the ups and downs of the recent years with the good and bad teams. The Rockies have always been our team, but last year they were Colorado's team. What is not to love from a team that not only works hard on the field, but strives to do just as much off the field. I wanted to give back to my mom more than anything, but my dad as well, what the Rockies have given them over the more than a decade of baseball in Colorado. Now this is not saying they have never been to a game, but this is my chance to give back to them, what they gave me in my young years. From practicing throwing, pitching, hitting and taking ground balls to the love, support, and dedication my parents gave, this is me doing my best Rockies impression and giving back.
Both of their birthdays are in July and this would be a great treat for them. Thanks for giving me the chance to show my parents what they mean to me.
Best Regards,
