Lakewood's Heritage Center, located in Belmar Park, provides a fairytale setting for an extraordinary wedding, with multiple sites for the ceremony and reception. Outside, inside or a combination thereof offers numerous photographic areas: green, lush and prolific in flowering vegetation. All sites are tucked away from traffic noise with panoramic mountain views. Dramatic entrance possibilities exist for the bride and bridal party, particularly at The Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Amphitheater and the Gazebo.
The amphitheater floor accommodates a maximum of 250 people underneath the canopy, and the Gazebo has a capacity of 100. There is historical charm to be found in the Country School, capacity 90, or in the light, modern Orchard Room located in the Visitor Center. In fact, the Plaza and Visitor Center are also available for weddings and receptions. Parking is plentiful and all areas are handicap - accessible.
The stunning area, often overlooked on a fast commute down Wadsworth Boulevard, never attracts attention to itself, except maybe during Cider Days. Take Ohio Avenue west off S. Wadsworth and turn left into the parking lot to explore a gem located in the heart of Lakewood. A self-guided walking tour will open your eyes to a wedding venue not listed in any of the popular wedding planning and directory guides.
The Lakewood Heritage Center is owned by the City of Lakewood and is non-profit. Julie Elam, the Heritage Center Specialist, can answer any questions that a bride or mother of the bride could have. She can be reached at 303.987.7747 or
Julela@lakewood.org
. Of course, the Lakewood Heritage Center is available for other private events and corporate functions.
