Cars vs. recreational cyclists in Green Mountain
Contributed by: Bert Ornelas on 8/10/2006

I am concerned about the impending increase in motor vehicle traffic and recreational cyclists in the Green Mountain area.

Currently, cyclists are an impediment to existing traffic flows and create the potential for severe and tragic accidents. What will happen when an additional 2800 vehicles (minimum) are added to the situation?

Does the city recognize how drivers will be affected/traumatized in a vehicle and cyclist accident/fatality? The cyclist is more vulnerable to serious injury or even death. Will the liability costs of these potential accidents be passed on to the city for the dangerous mix of bicycles and cars they create?
