Cindy's city updates
Contributed by: Cindy Baroway on 1/3/2008

Happy New Year!

I hope that you all enjoyed the holidays with your family and friends. The holidays are a wonderful time to catch up with everyone, to relax, and to finish off those holiday desserts!

Some quick updates for you:

• To contact me via phone, please call 303-987-7739
• For city-related issues, please email me at cbaroway@lakewood.org
Debbie Koop and I will be having our monthly Ward 2 meetings at the Charles Whitlock Rec Center on the first Wednesday of each month from 3:00 to 4:00 pm.

Thank you to all who attended the official swearing-in on Nov. 26. I appreciated seeing you in the audience and having the opportunity to chat with you during the brief social break. After that, my duties as a city councilor began quickly. In my first month I attended various meetings, activities, breakfasts, lunches, dinners, trainings, and other gatherings.

I had the pleasure of judging the Morse Park, the Two Creeks, and the O'Kane Park Neighborhood Organizations' holiday lighting contests. While all three had gatherings afterwards, Morse Park's group met on a wintry, chilly, snowy afternoon at Morse Park for caroling, cookies, and coffee. There were at least 50 people who braved the wind and snow. Thanks to the Morse Park N.O. president Phyllis Hendrickson, there were three portable heaters, an awning, electricity for the organ and microphone, and tables to hold all the cookies.

At the elected officials RTD breakfast meeting, the RTD officials presented information regarding how the status of Fastracks. Please visit their website at www.rtd-fastracks.com to stay current on the status of Light Rail through the west corridor.

As a reminder, you are always welcome to attend the City Council study sessions, which are held on the first and third Monday's of the month in the Cabinet Room. Agendas can be found on the city website, www.lakewood.org.

I believe that the new Citizens Advisory Commission on an Inclusive Community still has a few openings. I encourage Ward 2 residents to apply as we could use more citizen representation. To apply, click here to download an application.

I wish you all the best in 2008 and I hope to see you at Ward 2 meetings or other city-related meetings and events.

With warmest regards,

Cindy Baroway
Ward 2 City Councilor

Thanks for keeping us up to date as to your activities. Also, thanks for the open invitations and where to attend all of those meetings. To those in the last election who said in the that city officals are not accessible -- road apples. William A. Spriggs Ward 2 resident
