CCU freshman guard Talmai Aguirre (Silver City, NM) posted a game and career high 33 points in an 88-69 defeat of Colorado College on November 28th. Aguirre shot 46% from downtown, while chipping in 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in the victory.
Aguirre, the New Mexico Gatorade Player of the Year and the state's all time leading scorer, is one of the most decorated freshman recruits to set foot on the CCU campus. Talmai has backed up her lofty reputation by leading the ladies in scoring in four of the past five games. She currently ranks second in the conference with 19 points per game, first with 16 made three point field goals, and has combined for ten assists and seven steals on the young season.
In addition to her outstanding performances on the court, Talmai was a four year honor roll member in high school, boasting an admirable 3.8 grade point average. She has also volunteered her time this fall with Compa Food Ministries, an organization which provides food for needy families in the Rocky Mountain Region. Talmai is currently pursuing a degree in Biology.
