The Dedicated Fan
Contributed by: Kelly Davis on 11/5/2005

Editor's note: YourHub.com asked Avalanche fans "Why should you and 15 of your closest friends deserve to win a suite?" Here is what one fan wrote.

I am writing this for my husband Laine G. Davis, he has been an avalanche fan for a long time now, his favorite player was Patrick Roy. He has never been to an Avalanche game ever, but has stayed a loyal fan.

You see when our son passed away in 2001, we had received a gift from a friend before he passed away that was an Avalanche onesie for Christmas. My son, Scott Eugene Davis, passed away on December 25, 2001, he lived for 16 days and my husband held him while he died. When my husband was asked what he wanted the baby to wear when he was cremated, my husband said he wanted the Avalanche onesie put on him. My husband still remains a dedicated fan of the Avalanche, but still has never been to one game, we have never had the money to attend a game and I would like nothing more for him to get the opportunity to see them play in person.

Now my husband puts an Avalanche outfit on my son, Garry Stephen Davis, who was born on February 26, 2002, and is healthy and well.

Laine is a great dad first and for most then a husband, but don't ever count on Laine to be some where if there is an AV's game on and there is no t.v. HA!HA! inside joke. Truley Laine I have only hoped and prayed the best for you and your family for almost four years now. You see I consider Laine and Kelly family as I was there all the way through with them for Kelly's pregnancy and the birth of little Scott, as well as the heart wrenching weeks to follow. You know through it all Laine kept his head above it all and stayed strong for his wife and daughters and if he broke down he made sure no one was around. Laine is a very giving person and I hope that he can win this suite as to me this would be nothing smaller then the medal of honor that Laine so deserves. I also know that there is a little one looking down and cheering his Daddy on to win as well, even though his Daddy will always be a winner to him.

How true this is! I know personally, he is my cousin. Laine really deserves this chance because I know this would be at the top of his to do list. We all have them we just label them differently. Laine is never taking time out for himself, he is always helping people move, taking a road trip to keep me company or just a shoulder to cry on. He has always been there, willing to do anything and always looking out for other people even if he doesn't know them. Now is the time for him to get what he deserves! This would be the greatest thing to remember and tell his grand kids and have his little Scott looking down on him and saying "way to go dad"! He is truly the biggest Avs fan! I really hope he gets the sweet suite, thanks to Kelly, his wonderfule wife. Laine G. Davis' Cousin Tracey Murphy
