The Dedicated Fan
Contributed by: Kelly Davis on 11/5/2005

Editor's note: YourHub.com asked Avalanche fans "Why should you and 15 of your closest friends deserve to win a suite?" Here is what one fan wrote.

I am writing this about my husband Laine G. Davis, he deserves this because he has been a dedicated fan even in the worst of times, you see my son Scott Eugene Davis passed away on Christmas day of 2001.

He was given a gift by a friend of ours before he passed away, which was a little Avalanche onesie.

When it was time to decide what Scott would wear at his viewing and to be cremated in, my husband wanted the Avalanche onesie on him.

He was cremated in the onesie and my husband still remains a fan today, his favorite player was Patrick Roy, now since Patrick Roy has retired, he does not have a prticular favorite, he just enjoys watching them play.

I have had another son, who is 2 years old now that is alive healthy and well and my husband has dressed him in Avalanche since he was tiny too.

That is why if anyone deserves to see the Avalanche in person, I believe that he should get the opportunity.

Laine and Kelly are terrific people, and very good friends to myself, my husband, and my family. Laine was a pillar of strength through the time he lost his son for his wife and family. He held everything together. Without him, I just don't know how Kelly and the girls would have been. He is the most loyal Avs fan I have ever met! He and my brother have rival fighting all the time since my brother is a RedWings Fan (no accounting for taste sometimes with him). So, I have sat back and watched them battle the typical fight everytime they play each other. Laine is never swayed to my brother's side, and will sometimes get red in the face defending his Av's! This is a most deserving fan, and I believe he should be your winner. This is a quiet, almost shy person, until the game comes on. Then look out! Please vote Laine into this wonderful treat. Thank You, Carrie and Steve Sutterlin Brighton, CO

After all he has done for me and always being there he really does deserve this chance to see the Avs. He has been through the worst nightmare in losing his son, Scott now he needs a chance to be in the best dream by being at his first Av's game that he has never had a chance to do! That way he can tell his grand kids and have Scott smile down and say "way to go dad, you deserve this"!
