Editor's note: YourHub.com asked readers to tell us why they deserved to win a suite for 16 people at a Colorado Avalanche game. Here is what one reader wrote:
I believe that I know several people including myself that deserve to win this suite. The first 2 people are my neighbors. They have come upon some hard luck in the last year, and are having a hard time making ends meet. They are the most giving people you could know, but have been struggling due to medical problems. Day to day bills are keeping them down, and even when they start to get back on their feet the husband ends up back in the hospital keeping him out of work. Unfortunately he is in the hospital with severe kidney problems right now. They are huge Avalanche fans, and being able to go to a game this year since hockey has returned would at least put a smile on their faces short term, and possibly allow me to give back to them and allow them to forget about the bad even if only very temporarily. I have been trying to think of a gift other than money that they would really like for Christmas, and Avs tickets came up first in my mind.
Secondly at work there has been a buyout, and there are several people that are having a hard time with the changes. A hockey game would not change this, but let them know that someone is thinking about them, and wants them to see that things are not so bad. I love being able to put a smile on people's faces, and we have some huge sports fans in our office. I think it would be a good time for our boss to be able to reconnect with some of her employees after this change has happened.
Third would be my family. My boys (ages 4 and 7) are huge sports fans as well, and my boys have never seen a live hockey game. They would be thrilled to be there, especially with our neighbors who are always offering to take care of them since we have no family in the area. My son just had a birthday, and said he would love to see an Avalanche game. I am about to have Lasik surgery to be able to go without glasses to see things far away for the first time in 30 years. what better opportunity to enjoy that freedom than at an Avs game way up high. I can't even imagine seeing players on the ice without having to have glasses on.
I think being able to put this varied group of people together would be a great way to start the New Year, and brighten some lives. This is a great time of year to be able to give, and thanks for this opportunity to possibly be able to spread some smiles to many people. I look forward to hearing from you.
