Congratulations to our “Winning is Suite” Avalanche contest winners, the Volunteer Leadership Council at the Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge. They will be attending the Jan. 3 game against the Nashville Predators.

Roberta Bhasin, a Lakewood resident and member of the Leadership Council, wrote the winning entry, which you can read here. She said as a big hockey fan, she wanted the article to reflect her love of the sport, so she did a search on the Internet for hockey terminology and creatively injected them into the story.

“This group has been working hard all year,” Bhasin said about the Leadership Council. “And it’s just very exciting to win this.”

“The other two contenders were great and deserving as well,” Bhasin continued. “They were tough competition. But we received a lot of great comments.”

Indeed, Bhasin’s Avalanche entry received more than 1,000 pages views online and 29 comments from YourHub.com users.

Bhasin added that the group would have dinner at the Ridgeline restaurant in the Pepsi Center as a pre-game celebration. And we are looking forward to them posting photos and a story from their time in the suite.
