Seniors
Jarrad McKay and
Donnie Reed had four great years playing football for the Lakewood High School Tigers. Both of these young men will continue playing football next fall in college, Jarrad at CSU and Donnie at Chadron State.
What the Lakewood football team accomplished this year was beyond out wildest dreams. Most football experts had us winning one or two games max this season and getting blown out in most Jeffco contests. We started the year upsetting Columbine (state 5A champion, Columbine's only loss this season) and ended the year losing in the quarter finals of 5A state.
Statistically, Jarrad had 15 touchdowns rushing, six receiving and one kick-off return for a touchdown. Jarrad was the Tiger leader in tackles on the defensive side of the ball.
Donnie was second in 5A state in receptions with 57. Donnie had five touchdowns receiving, four rushing and one interception on defense for a touchdown. Donnie also returned punts and kickoffs and was our shut-down corner on defense.
Both Jarrad and Donnie are All-Conference, All-Star Athletes.
That said, what stands out is what "first class" young men they are off the field.
