CCU athlete named preseason All-American
Contributed by: Colorado Christian University on 11/28/2007

On Nov. 8, Colorado Christian University (CCU) men's basketball player Brian Stamer was selected as a Basketball Times top-25 all-American and a Division II Bulletin honorable mention all-American. Both publications recognize exceptional athletes in preseason issues which provide regional reports, industry news, and conference standings and records.

Stamer, a 6-foot, 7-inch senior forward, has also been unanimously picked as the 2007-08 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Preseason Player of the Year, and was named to the preseason all-RMAC first team. Last season, he averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds per game, including a conference season high 40 points, while leading the CCU Cougars to wins in five of their final seven regular season games and a spot in the RMAC postseason. Stamer graduated from Highlands Ranch High School in Highlands Ranch. He is majoring in accounting and computer information systems at CCU, and was recently featured in an issue of Mile High Sports Magazine.

"To be recognized in this way is such an honor for me and my team but, above all, the glory goes to Jesus in all of this," stated Stamer. "Without God in my life, none of this would be possible-and that has been more and more evident of late."

"Brian is the ultimate team player. He has a genuine humility to go along with a great work ethic that impacts the game at every level," commented head men's basketball coach, David Daniels. "His most important quality is his desire to be the man God wants him to be and to lead others in their pursuit of Christ. He makes my job a joy."

The Cougars tipped off their season on November 16 with an 81-64 win over Langston University at the Metro State Classic. On November 20, they were in Boulder, Colorado, for a regular season game against Division I University of Colorado. The men ended with a 58-78 loss in CCU's first basketball game ever against a Big 12 opponent. Stamer and teammates will travel to Colorado Springs on December 22 to play the Air Force Academy.
