CCU sophomore Tedi Thorne won her first event of the year, while freshman Jessica Lauer finished in ninth place overall April 1 at the Regis Invitational at Fox Hollow Golf Course in Lakewood, Colorado.

Thorne demolished the competition, finishing with a commanding seven stroke lead (77, 76-153) over second place Maggie Cole (77, 83-160) of Mesa State.

Cole and Thorne were tied at 77 each heading into today's round, before Tedi put on a clinic with a round of 76 on the par 71 to pull away with the win.

Lauer ranked seventh overall after logging an 84 (+13) on day one, before turning in an 85 in today's round to hold on to a ninth place finish in the competitive field.
