The Lakewood-based Rollin Rockies wheelchair softball team is in full swing for the 2007 season. The team is comprised of men, women and children with physical disabilities and is one of 48 wheelchair softball teams governed by the National Wheelchair Softball Association (NWSA). The game follows the same rules as set forth by the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) with a few exceptions geared toward the wheelchair user.
Now in its 11th year, the Rollin Rockies are the only team of its kind in Colorado and is seeking active wheelchair users who are interested in playing an adaptive form of America's Greatest Pastime. In addition, the team challenges any local able-bodied softball team to a game of wheelchair softball (wheelchairs, instruction and excitement provided) at one of the team's two fields located in Lakewood or at Coors Field parking lot.
