The Jefferson
Saints visited the Evergreen
Cougars on
Friday 2/1/08 for match-up in all levels of Girls Basketball. The meeting proved that Saints are no match for Cougars, as Evergreen took all levels quite easily.
In freshman play the game was the closest of the three ending in a score of 50 to 39 for the Cougars. In Junior Varsity play it was a total blowout 48 to 8 for Evergreen. In fact, Jefferson "Saints" scored only one basket in the first half and that only moments before the horn. The lady Cougars scored 28 points in the first half.
In Varsity play the ladies of Evergreen won quite handily 63 to 23. The ladies of Jefferson gave an all out effort in all levels of play but were very out classed in all aspects height, scoring, and rebounding. Nonetheless, they need a round of applause for their determination in not giving up and continuing to play hard the whole game through on every level.
Evergreen Cougars have many weapons in their arsenal, but the 6'4" post/center is hard to miss,
Tricia Oakes is headed for Colgate College, located in Hamilton, New York. She has gotten a full ride scholarship, she was offered the same in Colorado from DU, CSU but decided she wanted a smaller Ivy League atmosphere in order to concentrate on her academics.
Kimmy Baroch,
Megan Hodson, make up the senior list of standout players on varsity.Sarah Lafrinere,
Steph Weins are part of theJunior Varsitystandouts.
Kaitlyn Riefenburg and
Brianna Fisher are great players on the Freshman team. All the girls on all the levels are good solid players and deserve mention but on this given night these stood out in my mind.
