Various Lakewood Youth Sports & Recreation programs are starting up this month at four of Lakewood's Rec Centers. Sign up now for several exciting offerings including in-Line Hockey, Artistic Gymnastics, Flip & Dip, Wrestling, Basketball, Floor Hockey, Lacrosse and more!

Below are some of this year's youth sports offerings available in just a few weeks. Call now and reserve your spot!


2007 Spring Youth In-Line Hockey League
Age Divisions: 6-10, 10-14 and 14-18
Whether you're an avid hockey player or just want to try the sport, this recreational league offers tons of fun! Teams put together based on player's age, size, and ability. Teams practice once a week for an hour and Saturday is game day. Standard in-line hockey equipment required.
All players are required to attend a mandatory skills assessment on Saturday, Mar 10 or 17.
Assessment times are as follows: 6-10 year olds at 10 am; 10-14 year olds at noon; 14-18 year olds at 2 pm.
League runs Apr 2 - May 19. Registration deadline is Sat, Mar 17

Rhythmic Artistic Gymnastics (Ages 6-12)
Lakewood Gymnastics is now offering a unique opportunity for girls aged 6-12 to learn the basics of rhythmic artistic gymnastics. Girls will learn to perform gymnastics dance routines while using the different types of apparatus: balls, hoops, ribbons and ropes. Class meets once and/or twice a week during the five-week program. Our next session begins on Feb 26th. Choose a day that works best for you and register today!
Tuesdays: 5-6pm, Fridays: 4-5pm, Saturdays: 10-11am

Flip & Dip (Ages 3-6)
Join us Friday mornings at the Green Mountain Recreation Center for a combination class of gymnastics and aquatics! Begin with 30 minutes of tumbling, leaping, and swinging in the gym. Cool off in the pool for the next 30 minutes with swimming games and activities. It's a great way for children to burn off some energy and have a fabulous Friday!
Monthly Sessions: Feb 2, 9, 16, 23; Mar 2,9,16,23; Apr 6, 13, 20, 27; May 4, 11, 18, 25
Class times: 10:15-11:20am, 11am-12:05pm, 11:45am-12:50pm, 12:30-1:35pm

Introduction to Wrestling (Ages 5-14)
It's time to get on the mat for this co-ed introduction to the individual sport of wrestling in a fun and recreational environment. Headgear provided. Wrestling shoes recommended, but not mandatory.

Spring Basketball League (Ages 4-5, 6-7, 8-11)
This basketball league employs special basketball hoops and smaller balls in order to make it fun and easy for your child to learn the fundamentals of the game.

Floor Hockey League (Ages 3-4, 5-6)
Special padded sticks and soft balls for a puck make it easy for children to learn the necessary skills to have fun while playing floor hockey.

Spring Break Pee Wee Sports Camp (Ages 3-6)
Each day will be an introduction to a specific sport in a fun and recreational environment. Sports include: baseball, football, basketball, soccer and floor hockey. Each participant will receive a Pee Wee Sports Camp T-shirt. Fun and excitement provided. Camp runs 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., March 26-30. The cost is $50 for Lakewood resident or $65 nonresident.

This camp is great for beginners who want to learn the game of lacrosse as well as experienced players who want to improve. Our talented instructors will feature an exciting day or week of skills, drills, games, fun and excitement. No previous experience or personal equipment necessary. We provide everything. Fee includes camp t-shirt. March 26-29. The cost is $50 for Lakewood resident or $65 nonresident.

Spring Break Gymnastics Camp (Ages 6-12)
We'd love to celebrate Spring Break with you! Join us in the gym for three days of gymnastics, flips and games! $45 resident, $58 nonresident (three hour session) $80 resident, $100 nonresident (all day session)
Time: Morning session- 10am-1pm, Afternoon session 1:30-4:30 pm
