Rockies roll past Fairmount Fire Department
Contributed by: Mike Wheaton on 9/21/2007

The Colorado Rollin' Rockies ended a successful season by hosting Fairmount Fire Department in a game of wheelchair softball on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Jason Jennings Mile High Adaptive Field in Lakewood.

Over 20 firefighters along with several dozens of their friends and family members came out to the event, which attracted additional spectators who came just to witness the Fire Department in action - playing the game in wheelchairs.

While the Rollin' Rockies went on to win the game according to the scoreboard, it was Fairmount who came away as winners as one such fire fighter was over heard saying "I have a new found respect for your guys," as he commented on the skills of the Rollin' Rockies players. A rematch game will take place next season.

In addition to the game, Fairmount also brought out one of their fire trucks, which was a highlight for the children in attendance. The event was concluded with a barbecue dinner hosted by Fairmount and their crew.
