After winning the JCJBL league title on Wednesday, the Green Mountain Rams 11 year old baseball team headed west to take on the competition at the Triple Crown Tournament in Glenwood Springs. The Rams would face some great competition from all parts of Colorado in the weekend-long event.
In the shadow of Mount Sopris in the beautiful Carbondale Valley, the Rams went undefeated in pool play to clinch the 1 st seed moving into the Championship round. Hoping for their first tournament victory of the season, the Rams entered the final game with focus and determination. At the end of six innings, the Rams were on top of the DC Rockers to win the tournament title. Each game of the weekend was a true team effort with every one of the Rams players stepping up to contribute to the victories.
While traveling with the team, the Rams represent their home in Green Mountain with pride. Decked out in their 'lucky' tie-dye jerseys with the slogan of "Peace, Glove and RBIs" on the back, the Rams exhibit exceptional sportsmanship and maturity on the road. Next up for the team is the USSSA State Tournament in Lakewood where they will battle 25 other teams for the State title. The Rams will then travel to Colorado Springs and Steamboat to compete in two national tournaments where they will test their skills against other young baseball players from all over the US.
Way to go Rams! Your families, friends and coaches are so proud of your efforts and accomplishments!
