Lakewood resident, Sunny Marie Hackman, won First Place in the 11th Lafayette Oatmeal Festival Baking Contest -- the Bread and Muffin category. Sunny Marie registered for the Smart Heart Challenge after seeing an announcement in the Health and Fitness Calendar section of the Rocky Mountain News. On December 13, 2006, Food Editor Mary Meitus wrote the article " The Miracle of the Loaves" and published the No-Knead Miracle Bread recipe. After receiving the Lafayette Oatmeal Festival information in the mail and after trying the No-Knead Miracle Bread with good results, Sunny Marie adapted the recipe using a portion of oat bran flour for the baking contest. The results were fabulous! Sunny Marie Hackman was thrilled with the First Place gift basket and will continue reading her morning paper.
