Blog Entry 19 of 32 Into the hills
I started working at YourHub.com in October of 2005. Lucky for me I actually live in the area I cover for YourHub.com, which makes me feel a little more in touch with my community and I hope to tell you what that is like and get some feedback. I’ll also let you know what’s going on with me and share some observations about whatever’s on my mind. I might also throw in a book review here or there, although I doubt it will be anything too earth shattering. My hope is to find some other reviewers out there, for books, restaurants, entertainment, etc... Enjoy!

What's the buzz (in your neighborhood)

There's a lot happening around town and here is a brief lineup.

The biggest news is that Jefferson County Public Schools are back in session and started Aug. 22. Chatfield Senior High School greeted students with lots of big changes after some major renovations over the summer. You can read the story here.

There are lots of fun events happening this coming weekend. The Rocky Mountain Balloon Festival floats in to Chatfield State Park Aug. 24 to 26 complete with an astronaut. That's right - you can meet an astronaut and see lots of beautiful balloons flying high in the sky. You can read more about the astronaut's visit and the event here.

Your dogs can also find some relief from the heat this weekend with a dip in some local pools. Foothills Park and Recreation's Deer Creek Pool, 8637 S. Garrison St., will let the pooches have some fun and help close down the pool Aug. 26. Registration is required and cost is $10. Read all the details here . Likewise, dogs and their owners also can help close down the Ken-Caryl Ranch House Swimming Pool Aug. 26 from noon to 3:30 p.m. There are several sessions you can attend and registration is required. Costs vary depending on where you live. Read all the details here.

Also, the Inter-Canyon Fire/Rescue opened a new fire station and is hosting a grand opening Aug. 25 from 9a.m. to noon. The new No. 2 Fire station is located at 10591 S. Deer Creek Road and will serve residents of Sampson Road, Kueshter Road and Deer Creek Canyon Road. Read the whole story here.
