Blog Entry 28 of 32 Into the hills
I started working at YourHub.com in October of 2005. Lucky for me I actually live in the area I cover for YourHub.com, which makes me feel a little more in touch with my community and I hope to tell you what that is like and get some feedback. I’ll also let you know what’s going on with me and share some observations about whatever’s on my mind. I might also throw in a book review here or there, although I doubt it will be anything too earth shattering. My hope is to find some other reviewers out there, for books, restaurants, entertainment, etc... Enjoy!

TMAC in the running for a makeover

I recently read a story posted by Marie Guldbeck, of Arvada. Marie, apparently, is an animal lover, and is trying to get people to cast their vote on an online contest put on by www.zootoo.com. The Web site is giving away $1 million dollars to an animal shelter for a makeover. The shelter wins by getting the most votes on the Web site.

Marie is advocating for people to vote for the Table Mountain Animal Center in Golden. Her story caught my attention, because about three years ago I adopted my dog, Sadie, from the center. I'm so glad TMAC rescued Sadie from the streets. I'm thankful for the center for giving all dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, etc ... waiting for a good home a second chance. I agree TMAC could use a little money for a makeover, and improve their facilities for the rescued animals.

Sadie has brought a lot of joy to my husband and me. She is a sweet dog, who was very shy when we first brought her home. She was scared of strangers, would shake and run and hide. Sadie is now thriving, is always wagging her tail, and doesn't run away scared anymore. I can't imagine life with out her!

While on www.zootoo.com, I noticed other Denver-area shelters are also participating. I wish them good luck, too! You can read all the details about how to cast your vote in Marie's story.
