You've heard by now the newest fad in vacations: "staycations." It's a wonder we didn't have a name for it sooner, really. It's the ultimate in vacationing on the cheap. In the past we might have called them "one tank trips." But the idea has now broadened.
You can make these staycations anything you want them to be. It's almost unfair to other states how easy it is to do a staycation in Colorado. Our state's natural beauty and all of the great parks and museums make it second-to-none for great family fun.
Any resort town is going to offer great summer deals that are perfect for a low-cost and close to home vacation. Think Winter Park, Vail, Breckenridge. If you stay for a long weekend, choose a condo so that you can eat-in as often as you like. Once you are there, many activities will be no cost: hiking, biking (even rentals are very reasonable), rock climbing, and fishing top the list.
For an additional cost you can choose to do a rafting trip or horseback riding. But if you are used to buying a plane ticket for everyone in the family, even this is a money saving option.
I've already blogged recently about our wonderful state parks and the joys of camping... both of which are other great options easily just an hour or two from most front-range locations. If you are looking to do your own staycation, or even just make a few day trips with your family,
Mile High Mamas compiled the ultimate list of what to do around Colorado! You will be sure to find exactly what you are looking for.
