Let Us Clear The Air
My name is Dallas Collins, and I am a community member. I have raised three children in Littleton, and have two grandchildren. My husband and myself have been homeowners here for over 20 years. We have known about radon in Colorado for a long time, but because you can't see it or smell it, it wasn't on our priority list. This year I had a conversation with a man that suggested I do a little on-line research about Radon and it's long term effects. After I got over feeling bad, knowing that I should have done something about it while my children were growing up, and spending a lot of their time in our basements. I decided to go to school and become Precise Radon Testing Labs. I will use this blog to help keep our community informed on new equipment for testing radon. When the laws change in regards to radon, and offer my testing services to families who want professional testing for radon exposures in their home. Precise Radon has top of the line testing equipment, and a full service lab. Testing for radon is not expensive, we charge $89.00, with same day lab report. Over the years, I have always wanted my own business. It was always put on hold. Either the kids were too little, the laundry was piling up, company was staying with us, yard work was calling, or one of our kids needed some extra supervision. In those days there was just enough money from my husband working to pull off being a stay at home Mom. I loved those days, and my grown children are thankful that I did stay at home.
Now with the kids grown, and the desire to still have my own business, I have taken the plunge. Being older now, it was important that my business have some teeth to it. I picked radon measurement after doing some research, and looking at the EPA statistics on radon. I almost felt like the job was picking me! I believe that this service is needed. My only regret is that our children have grown up in homes that were never tested or mitigated. They have had bedrooms in our basements, and spent countless hours playing in an environment that could have been hazardous to their health.
To all the Moms and Dads out there, I have a little bit of advise; Just get your home tested, don't worry about the results of the test, high levels of radon gas are easily mitigated, and it's not as expensive as you think. Waiting until you sell your home is not the best idea for your family. Precise Radon Testing Labs is located in Littleton, and we charge $89.00 for a full residential radon test, (mileage charge may apply if outside Ken Caryl area). You receive a full lab report the same day the test is completed.
I have put all of my money into my education on Radon Measurement, and have spent the rest of it on the best and most precise equipment that I could find. Hence the name Precise Radon Testing Labs. Please call me if you want to test your home, or if you want more information on Radon in Colorado. Good Luck, and I will keep you all posted on the business, and on any important information that I learn on natural occurring radon in homes.

I wish you the best on your new endeavor. Radon is one of the most under appreciated health hazards we face. Prolonged radon exposure is responsible for 21,000 lung cancer deaths each year in the United States alone. Dr. Bill Field http://www.cheec.uiowa.edu/misc/radon.html
