Blog Entry 21 of 42 Different Rhymes for Different Times
Pretty much just some street-type rhymin' goin' on here. Some rhymes might have proper grammar, but most of 'em probably won't. Nothin' fancy. Kinda just however I'm feelin' at any given time. Sometimes there'll be an explanation for the rhyme, sometimes there won't be. Not a whole lot of words endin' in the letter "g". Hopefully nobody ever gets offended by anything I write. That is definitely not my intention. Just kinda writin' out my feelings in rhyme, that's all.

Somebody's somebody
Contributed by: Mike Martinez   on 5/28/2007

This rhyme isn't just for our troops serving in Iraq
but for all the proud men and women who never made it back

Somebody's somebody just cried today
because somebody's somebody had to decide today
how to tell somebody's somebody that they tried today
to save somebody's somebody, but they died today
They're going full speed ahead, and they're aiming high
They're being all they can be without blinking an eye
They're the few and the proud and they're willing to die
to give somebody else their own Fourth of July
Somebody's somebody could be a sister or a brother
A wife, a husband, a father, or a mother
and for that somebody's somebody there can be no other
and never could they ever be replaced by another
"When you comin' home, dad?" " Honey, is everything okay?"
"We haven't heard from you since March, and it's the end of May."
"Johnny broke his arm and the cat ran away."
We write these things and pray our somebody comes home someday
But if they don't make it back, we can stand there with pride
holding their flag tight, close at our side
and we can hold our heads high, though we're crying inside
because they died for what they believed in, and that can't be denied
Somebody's somebody is out there somewhere
fighting in the sea, or on land, or in the air
and I'm just writing this rhyme to let them know that I care
'cause everybody knows somebody who has somebody there
Somebody's somebody bows down on one knee
to pray for somebody's somebody that they seen on t.v.
who died standing up for you and for me
protecting somebody's somebody and their right to be free
