NASA Astronaut to appear at balloon festival

The Rocky Mountain Balloon Festival, presented by RE/MAX, announced today that NASA astronaut Michael Foale will appear at the Festival on Saturday 25 August 2007.

Michael Foale was selected as an astronaut candidate by NASA in June 1987. A veteran of six space flights, Foale has logged over 374 days in space including four space walks totaling 22 hours and 44 minutes. Foale currently holds the U.S. record for time spent in space. He is an active astronaut, supporting Soyuz operations, and ISS and Exploration space suit activities.

He will be at the Rocky Mountain Balloon Festival NASA/Lockheed Martin exhibit from 9:00-11:00 AM and 4-6 PM on Saturday to sign autographs and greet visitors.

The newest NASA exhibit to visit the Denver area, Vision for Space Exploration Trailer, will be open to the public all weekend.

The Rocky Mountain Balloon Festival is the only hot air balloon event in the
Denver area. The 8th annual Festival will be held at Chatfield State Park August 24-26 August, 2007. The Rocky Mountain Balloon Festival weekend schedule includes balloon launches Saturday and Sunday mornings, and the "Balloon
Illum" a night spectacular on Saturday evening.

Live music for the weekend includes Skean Dubh, Isaiah Solomon, US Air Force
Academy Falconaires, Steve Crenshaw and the Blues Band, and the Rocky MountainBrassworks. See the Festival website for a complete schedule of events.

Volunteer positions are still available, including acting as crew for balloons from
