Dear Editor,
My husband, my three kids and I have been residents of KCR since 1996. Our family has enjoyed many of the amenities our community has to offer.
I have attended recent KCRMD and NRHOA meetings to try and be better informed about the recent budget crunch that is facing our community. I've been disappointed and disenfranchised with all the rhetoric about why the KCRMD should not get more money. It seems vindictive and counter to our purposes of living amicably with our neighbors, and agreeing on issues of importance to our community and pays little attention to the fact that the KCRMD budget must have increased revenues for us to enjoy the wonderful amenities that our community has.
The thing that has me most upset about all this is the fact that outside interests had such an impact on last year's election. Some residents are upset that we are having another election, saying that the voters have already spoken. It is clear that a great deal of money has been spent to try and dupe this community. And that money, for the most part has been provided not by concerned residents of this community, but by outside interests who are determined to undermine the strength of our community for their own personal gain. Many residents want another crack at this one and hopefully are much better informed this time. I think that it is despicable that outside interests and residents of this community would intentionally misinform their neighbors, to their detriment, for personal gain. But make no mistake, that is exactly what has been going on here.
I don't like paying taxes anymore than anyone else - but when the revenues stay in my community to benefit me and my family and my neighbors, I will certainly vote for it. What other taxes and governmental expenditures can you say that you have some measure of control over and truly benefit you, your family and your neighbors directly, everyday?
It seems to me that this is a no brainer- this is our community, what we have here in Ken Caryl is truly special, it is worth a great deal to me and my family and it is all our responsibility to protect and take care of it.
I urge you to go to www.investinkcranch.org and make an informed decision about your community.
I'm voting yes on A & B and I hope you will too.
Sincerely,
Kerry Anders
