Blog Entry 32 of 44 Welcome to The Retroplex
I'm usually in full-blown reminisce mode anyway, so why not make the rest of you poor saps suffer along with me, right?

Here, you'll find no shortage (well...unless I can't think of any new material) of meaningless but ultimately harmless bits of ephemera covering the past 20 or so years of pop culture, and my occasional interactions with it. Whether you're into the iconic or the ironic, sooner or later, I'll probably get around to it.
Watch, as the hilarity ensues! Or, if you prefer, gawk like a shocked passerby witnessing a horrible accident!

I remember that jingle!

Today's nuggets? A few samples of Denver's media past.

First up, a little ditty that I'd long forgotten. At one point, you couldn't escape this song if you lived in the Denver area. It's still etched into my long-term memory, even though growing up, I lived in a Channel 9-only home. Here's a little YouTube time travel in the form of KCNC's " This is Colorado", circa 1988, or so. You don't see this sort of big-budget self-indulgence/branding in TV news anymore. I wonder why? I always kinda liked it.

Next, we've got a little bit of unorthodox Fourth O' July fun, in the form of a 9 News/Paula Woodward report from 1985. Nudists? Fireworks? Check, and check. I give you " A Full-Frontal Fourth". Yikes. YouTube will make you log in before viewing this scandalous bit, though - so be warned (no actual nudity is seen, however - have no fear). Retro kudos to 9News for sharing their archives with the rest o' the world.

Last up? Here's a treat for my fellow Bronco fans. This long-lost music video features the Barrel Man making like Randy Newman, as our soon-to-be-trounced-by-the-Giants Broncos prepared to head off to Super Bowl twenty-two, I believe. That's right, kids - some intrepid nostalgist out there has unearthed and shared a copy of " I love Elway". Bask in its glory, and revel in the scrawny, three-laned beauty of a pre-Trex I-25, which makes a cameo appearance in the video, credited, of course, as "The Valley Highway" - as it was once known to Denverites far and wide.
