Negotiate the challenging twists and turns of the newly designed cornfield this fall at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield's annual Corn Maze - one of the most attended corn mazes in the country.
This year's Maze contains 8.5 acres of winding pathways in the shape of the globe. The design was chosen to help promote the Gardens' commitment to conservation and sustainability; part of the Gardens' mission is to implement earth-friendly practices and to educate the community about ways they can do the same.
Two 15-foot-tall illuminated bridges will overlook the 12-foot-tall stalks of the Corn Maze.
Activities for kids include hay rides and barrel train rides offered on select weekends, a "pumpkin walk" featuring a display of artfully carved pumpkins, a free mini-maze, and a "corn box" (sand box filled with kernels of corn to roll around in). Also be sure to check out the whimsically decorated scarecrows in our A-maize-ing Scarecrow Contest, which will be on display until Sept. 26. (Individuals, families and organizations can still enter a scarecrow for a chance to win some fantastic prizes! The deadline is Aug. 22; go to www.botanicgardens.org/sites/default/files/2008ScarecrowInfoEntryForm.pdf to fill out an entry form.)
New this year: Venture through the "25th Hour" and "The Butcher" haunted houses at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield. These heart-pounding venues feature a zombie theme and an insane butcher, respectively. Don't miss these walk-through, dark attractions filled with terrifying live actors, amazing special effects and incredible monsters - experiences sure to send chills down your spine! These attractions are for teenagers and adults only. Open Sept. 19-20, Sept. 26-27 and Oct. 3 - Nov. 1; hours Sunday through Thursday are 7-10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday are 6-10 p.m. (last ticket sold at 9:30 p.m.) Admission for each house is $15.95 per person; experience both houses for $24.95. Bring a canned food item and receive $1 off admission.
The Corn Maze is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Sept. 5 - Oct. 26.
Hours: Fridays: 4-10 p.m.
Saturdays: 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Sundays: Noon - 10 p.m.
Admission*: $10 adults
$8 adult members, seniors and students with ID
$5 children (3-12 years)

FREE for children 3 and under
*Save money with the new "Super Ticket," a combination ticket that includes admission to both the Corn Maze and Pumpkin Festival. Visit www.botanicgardens.org for details.
Ticket sales end one hour in advance of Maze closure.
Once you have conquered the Corn Maze, take a walk along Chatfield's scenic trails, check out the wildlife observation area, visit our barnyard friends, and enjoy other children's educational activities that highlight sustainability and recycling.
