The Heritage High School Theater Department will present "The Plot, Like Gravy, Thickens," a show by Billy St. John, on November 5th, 6th and 7th 2009.
The play, a witty dark comedy, murder mystery spoof, opens with the playwright's alter ego, played by Maxwell Stewart, deconstructing how he's written the play. The action then shifts to the play itself where some of the characters discuss the owner of the house, Edward Worthington III, also played by Stewart. After Edward is murdered, Stewart again returns as Detective James McMillan.
The rest of this dysfunctionally kooky cast, who are all gathered for Edwards 50th birthday celebration, each have their own motives to wish the millionaire dead. The cast includes Edward's delusional older sister Beatrice, played by Sarah Evenson, who enjoys taking things around the house. His bitter ex-wife, Justine, is played by Becca Thompson,; andtheir daughter, a slacking college student, Deborah, is portrayed by Emily Keil. Edwards's current wife, Allegra, who is conniving and a less than ideal mate, and her playboy brother, Tony, are played by Valerie Igoe and Kyle Hanson.
Edwards's associates include his slimy lawyer, Lawrence, played by Brady Drose, and his nervous financial advisor, Roy, and his ditsy Wal-Mart shopping wife, Connie, portrayed by Rory Lynch and Becca Kring. Along with Edward's associates and friends, the play includes a menagerie of household staff including the housekeeper Mrs. Vickers, a bitter woman who wishes to keep a clean house, played by Caroline Kanyamauri. Edith, a naive young maid who is swooned over by Tony, is played by Megan Reetz. Ina, the sarcastic Russian cook famous for her whipped potatoes, is portrayed by Kali Hill. The quietly formal butler, Hollister, the only male in the household staff, is played by Brock Ciarlelli. Last, but certainly not least, is possibly the only person who doesn't have a motive to kill Edward, his own southern belle, love interest, and personal secretary, Peggy Sue, played by Linzy Coffey.
The show includes an opportunity for the audience to interrogate all of the suspects in order to figure out who the murderer is. Come join us in solving the mystery of who killed Edward Worthington III. All shows begin at 7pm in the Heritage High School Theater at 1401 W. Geddes Ave. in Littleton. Tickets are on sale at the door.
