South Suburban Parks and Recreation's South Platte Park, 3000 W. Carson Dr., will celebrate its 25th anniversary on Saturday, September 13.
One of the facets of the anniversary celebration will be a storytelling festival. Did you watch the "Flood of 1965"? Did you fight for the preservation of South Platte Park? Were you involved in moving the Carson Nature Center down to the park site from Jackass Hill? Do you have a special memory or visitor experience at South Platte Park?
Please visit the City of Littleton's web site at
www.littletongov.org/parks/floodStories.asp and submit your story today. Give a quick summary, or submit a detailed story and photographs. Stories might get adapted by a storyteller, used in the South Platte Park newsletter, or be archived for future generations. Receive credit for your story or remain anonymous. Help preserve the past and teach future generations.
Story and photo submittals can also be mailed or dropped off at the Carson Nature Center, 3000 W. Carson Dr., until August 15. Stories will also be accepted by email to
Karen Parker at
kparker@sspr.org.
