People who inspired you (and how): I have always been most inspired by my father. My father fought in North Africa, Sicily and D-day. He won a silver star and two bronze stars for heroism for risking his life to save others. He always taught me that we should leave this world a better place than we found it. He was a great father who always put my sister and I first, provided for us and encouraged us to succeed.
How you have contributed to the community: In 1999, I was appointed to the Greenwood Village Planning and Zoning Commission and named Vice Chairman in 2001.
In 2003, I ran for City Council and I am now serving in my third term.
I led the fight to enact the toughest sexual predator residency law in Colorado (Ordinance 41-2005).
I am also the current Chair of the Cherry Creek Basin Water Quality Authority. I have held this seat since 2003.
I have also coached my girls in softball, volley ball and soccer and 1o years in girls basketball at the Littleton YMCA and Gold Crown. I participated and was an officer in "Indian Princesses", a Dads and Daughters organization sponsored by the Littleton and Highline YMCAs
What are the biggest issues facing your constituency now: There are many competing issues facing my constituency. First and foremost, we are all concerned about the economy. We are faced daily with rising costs for gas, food, and other necessities of life. At the same time, the current State Administration asks us either personally or through businesses to pay more and more taxes and fees which cut into our ability to take care of our families and accomplish our dreams. The State is putting their interests above that of the people. I believe that the people know how to spend their money better that the government does. I believe that parents know better what is best for their children than the government. I believe that people know what they need for health care better than the government does. I believe in the people of Colorado.
