Erik Mahon, a 2005 honors graduate of Chatfield High School and a junior at Gustavus Adolphus College (GAC) in St. Peter, Minnesota, performed with the 2008 Minnesota Intercollegiate Honor Band, Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. This is the second time Mahon has performed with the honor's band (he was unable to audition in 2007 because of a scheduling conflict).
Mahon, who is majoring in Music Performance with an emphasis on Trumpet, was a member of the Colorado All-State Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, the University of Colorado Honor Band and the Jefferson County All-County Symphonic and Jazz Bands. In 2005 he was selected as the Denver Concert Band Young Artist Scholarship winner. He recently toured China with the GAC Symphony Orchestra, including performances in Beijing (on the Great Wall), Tianjin, Tangshan and Yangshuo. His plans are to perform professionally as a jazz musician.
His family resides in the Ken Caryl Valley.
