Campus Vote Rally boasts 30,800 new registrations

College students, representing thousands of Get Out The Vote campus volunteers, from nine campuses across the state, reported over 30,000 new voter registrations among the 18-35 year-old population. The Campus Vote 2008 Rally was sponsored by Colorado Campus Compact as a part of a $30,000 non-partisan grant funded through the generosity of civic author, Paul Loeb.

Students also took part in a heated debate on Amendment 59, with Colorado Speaker of the House Andrew Romanoff and The Independence Institute's Penn Pfiffner discussing what is at stake for public education in Colorado. Denver County's Clerk and Recorder, Stephanie O'Malley, advised this group of 100 students, on what to expect for Early Voting and on Nov. 4th. O'Malley encouraged new voters to check the status of their registration on-line at http://www.elections.colorado.gov to ensure their registration forms are complete. New voters have until Election Day to complete their registration form, in person at their respective County Clerk office, throughout Colorado.

Colorado Campus Compact is a non-profit hosted by Regis University within the Office of Mission programs. The Compact exists to advance the civic mission of higher education by actively engaging college students in service-learning and community-based research.
