When you enter a house or building, most likely you are not thinking about whether it is properly constructed or safe. Fortunately, the staff in the Greenwood Village Building Safety Division thinks about it every day.
To help raise awareness of building safety, Greenwood Village is celebrating Building Safety Week from May 3 through 9. During this worldwide celebration, we will be promoting the use, enforcement and understanding of building safety codes to protect lives and property. Building Safety: Where You Live, Work and Play is the theme of the 2009 Building Safety Week.
Staff are looking forward to a full week of activities including interactive presentations to third and fourth grade students at Beacon Day School and Aspen Academy, a coloring book contest, and displays at City Hall and the local Lowes and Home Depot home improvement stores. The public is encouraged to participate and learn about the essential safety work of the Greenwood Village Building Safety Division. To learn more about the week's activities, call Wally Marshall, Chief Building Official, at 303-486-5777 or e-mail wmarshall@greenwoodvillage.com.
