Members of Coronado Elementary School K-Kids Club celebrated Valentine's Day with seniors at the Alterra Sterling House Assisted Living Center located in Ken Caryl on Saturday, February 10, 2007.
Sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Ken Caryl, each K-Kid got acquainted with a senior, presenting them with home-made valentines and enjoying cupcakes and 7-Up with the elders.
The seniors were treated to a Valentine's Day play written by K-Kids Vice President,
Sadie Threlkel, and performed by members of the club. Several K-Kids entertained the seniors by playing the piano at the center.
"The seniors were delighted to be with the youngsters," said
Bonnie Conn, Sterling House Activities Director. "It made each elder very happy to have the young children visit them."
K-Kids faculty sponsor,
Dennis Bauer, said, "This is the third year in a row that we've visited Sterling House and it is a wonderful opportunity for young and old to become friends and enjoy each other's company."
