Math = fun: Yes, that's what I said

Math is Fun! Yeah right, you say, but at Math Monkey math really is fun. Math Monkey's unique curriculum shows student new strategies that bring the excitement to learning that they may be missing in school. Math Monkey's game based program brings fun to learning while at the same time students are practicing their math and problem solving skills.

Whether your child is ahead of the game or needs a little boost Math Monkey may be the answer. Children who are accelerated are often bored with their regular school work and could thrive in a challenging environment. Children who need that extra "push" in math, may just need to be shown a method that makes sense to them. All students are placed into a class based on their math aptitude, not grade level. Using Math Monkey's classroom environment, students can work together in a safe, non-threatening environment. Students build their confidence by helping each other with the fun and games.

At Math Monkey we believe there are two types of students: those who love math, and those who will. With this philosophy we instruct students in an ancient Indian math technique known as Vedic Math. It is a common sense approach to everyday math problems. It gives students a better comprehension of math without using "drill and kill" worksheets. Math Monkey understands that each student learns differently; therefore, we may show three different techniques to solving one type of problem, and all are right.

One of Math Monkey's main focuses is showing students that learning can be FUN. Fun is not a word normally associated with math. "We want to get rid of the negative stigma associated with the word math," Center Director Amanda Mitchell stated. "Most kids have that sinking feeling in their stomach or think UGH when they hear the word math. We are changing that."
