Top finalist for Teacher of the Year
Contributed by: Melissa Reeves on 10/18/2007

Peiffer Elementary Special Education teacher Karen Greer was a nominee and a top 10 finalist for the 2007 Colorado Department of Education Teacher of the Year.

"She's one of the most collaborative people I've ever met," said Peiffer Elementary principal Robin Weikel. "She's always trying to figure out how to make things work."

Colleagues describe Greer as a person who works side by side with other teachers and is giving of her time. Greer is often found working before and after school and even during summer vacation.

"She'll look for creative ways to make things happen," said Weikel. "From organizing fundraising activities to being creative with her scheduling."

Also a published author, Greer uses her book, Skipping Through Mathematics, to teach kids rhymes, raps and math facts that they hold on to for a lifetime.
