Contributed by: Jill Rickard on 1/7/2008

Written by Shanna Hurt

Heritage High School soccer coach, Tony Hurt, has just been named large high school regional girls coach of the year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) and Adidas.

Each year NSCAA selects coaches for Youth, High School and College levels. Coaches are nominated from each region by other coaches at the All State selection meeting each spring. Tony will be honored at a dinner on January 19 th as part of the NSCAA Coach's Convention in Baltimore, MD, where the National coaches of the year will then be announced.

Colorado's region includes coaches from Utah, Montana, New Mexico and Wyoming, as well. In addition to Tony, Smoky Hill's boys coach, Danny Winsor was selected as large high school boys coach, Jim Davidson of Broomfield was selected for small high school boys and Lorne Donelson of Real Colorado was selected as boys youth regional coach of the year, so Colorado will have strong representation in Baltimore.
