Ramey Johnson seeks RTD board seat
Contributed by: Ramey Johnson on 7/8/2008

Longtime Lakewood resident Ramey Johnson has announced her candidacy to represent District M on the Board of the Regional Transportation District. The election will be held in November.

Johnson states, "I have always remembered who pays a public servants salary- the taxpayer- that is who I am responsible to and always will be. My loyalty is to the citizens. This is a huge district, and deserves an RTD representative who will work with all people".

District M is entirely in Jefferson County stretching from Morrison Road to I-70 and portions Sheridan and Wadsworth on the east to C-470 on the west.

Ramey is a former State Legislator with experience in both public and private sectors.

Ramey grew up in the heart of Lakewood near the new Fastracks Lite Rail line and her husband has commuted on RTD buses for 40 years, giving her valuable in-depth insight into the complex issues facing the community and RTD as it begins construction of the 13th Avenue Lite Rail project. Johnson expects that the rising cost of gasoline will continue to encourage the use of public transportation, requiring RTD to not only be more efficient, but more responsive to the growing public demands it faces.

Johnson is best been known for her integrity, building partnerships and working with people, so everyone feels a sense of win-win.
Johnson's priorities include:

1. Watch dogging the projected current cuts to the West Corridor line and demanding to reinstate the previously promised original number of security cameras at the stations. Johnson said, "Decreasing cameras gives a false sense of cost containment at the expense of passenger safety."
2. Ensuring that District M has a strong voice on the RTD Board that will fight for this district's needs by listening and working with the citizens of this district.
3. Assuring the very best use of tax payer dollars through efficiency , technology, and especially common sense.

Johnson can be reached at 303-232-1567
