No bones about it - Rotary steps up!
Contributed by: Jane Barnes on 7/23/2008

You may not know about this new club in town. A new club with big projects, serving your community. Littleton Sunrise Rotary meets for breakfast on Wednesday mornings and discusses ways to pitch in and solve problems inLittleton and around the world. This new club provides books for elementary schools, backpacks and school supplies for children that can't afford them, scholarships, food baskets, and clean water.

Clean water? Doesn't everyone have clean water? No. Many around the world are drinking water not fit for animals and hundreds of thousands around the world die of diseases transmitted in unsafe water.

Rotarians around the world are working hard tofind a solution. So what can you do? Join us for a fun event and learn more about water. Littleton Sunrise Rotary is hosting the Cannibal Run - a 5K,10K, and family fun walk on Sunday August 17th at the Riverfront Event Center at Sante Fe Dr. and Bowles Avenue.

Why a "Cannibal Run"? To remind you of Littleton's most infamous character, Alferd Packer. Mr. Packer is buried in the Littleton cemetary and the 5K,10K runs right by his grave site. Children and families walk for free and even have the chance to win a prize by returning with a bone!

To register, visit www.active.com and enter "Cannibal Run" in the search window. Registration opens at 7 am and activities will conclude at noon. Don't miss this unique and "fun for all" event and help us serve Littleton and others around the world.
